Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior official said the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
