Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch designed personally in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck featured in season 10. Instead, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it remains an recognizable element of the series. For those who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only cosmetic from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will also include a series of challenges to earn more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get rims featuring a television displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
