The former champion’s son Campbell expressed an emotional tribute through his first public comments after his father’s passing.
Expressions of sympathy been shared from across the sports world and further afield after the loss of the one-time world boxing titleholder, who was found at his residence this past weekend at the tender age of 46.
“Heartbroken isn’t how I feel,” captioned his son beneath a set of personal pictures.
“Those who knew us always said I resembled your double – not a truer word uttered. Forever idolized you in all aspect of life.”
He added: “I can’t explain how much I’m going to cherish the laughs we shared and each of the good moments, which I will treasure forever. I can’t fathom we won’t have any more. Forever loved, Dad.”
Area authorities reported that the athletic star had been discovered at his home based in Greater Manchester. They stated that there were no unusual circumstances involved in the event.
In a path similar to his father, Campbell too ventured into a path in professional fighting, making his pro introductory fight in recent years. He later withdrew from the competition not long ago.
The following day, the relatives of Hatton shared a statement expressing that they were “deeply moved” by the immense wave of love and condolences sent their way.
“Richard was not only than a sports figure. To us, he was simply ‘Richard,’ our child. A devoted father, elder, and family member, and a loyal friend to numerous people,” the statement said.
“He carried a spirit as generous as his expression, and his generosity, humour, and dedication touched everyone blessed enough to experience him.
“To the rest of the world, he will permanently be remembered as one of fighting’s most iconic champions – a individual who dedicated everything inside the fights and displayed his emotions on his publicly.”
